New Directions

Hi all,

So once again, I've allowed a lapse to occur here on this blog. I apologize. I truly want to keep this thing regular. I think part of the problem is that I feel compelled to write long posts about anything that comes to mind. Successful blogs that I've seen tend to focus on specific themes and the posts are more numerous than they are long. A little bit each day goes a long way.

That then will be my new strategy. I'm going to use this blog to focus on my experiences in medicine. After all, this is Dr WillBe :) I want to make this blog useful to other medical students and healthcare professionals, and so I will spend time writing about things I see, learning methods, healthcare policy, thoughts, ideas and miscellaneous topics related to medicine. I think from time to a time a more personal post is warranted; I enjoy sharing news about my life with others. But I think I could read a much wider audience if I stick to a couple things and do them well.

So that's the plan.

I start my first clinical clerkship tomorrow - Pediatrics. I am extremely excited and a tad nervous. No doubt this year is going to a very rich experience and there will be a lot to talk about. I hope to recount my journey as frequently as possible, so that readers can learn or relate to what I write about, and also so that I have a record of what my life was like at 24/25 y/o. When I'm an old doctor one day, it will be a wonderful thing to be able to look back several decades to see how I was thinking, what I was doing, and how I handled myself.

Here's to actually making good on my new directions.
