Immunization Clinic

Today I'm stationed in the immunization clinic at Duke Family Med. That means I'm pretty much just standing around watching nurses give shots. But I do have an important role to play. I have to hold down the screaming, kicking little kids who don't want their shots. I just pinned this little 4 year old boy to the table as the nurse gave him four shots. I forgot how traumatic that experience can be. I remember they used to have to bring in a small army of nurses to secure me down when I was that age. My mom reminded me of that often when I was on peds. :) I hate to see kids cry.

Anyway, this is just a note from the field. No special insight or observation. Just reflection.
