The Ultimate Guide to Study Skills in Medical School

If doctor's salaries are cut, I wonder if medical schools will cut tuitions too.

A top administrator just came and spoke to my class about the future of healthcare reform. He spoke glowingly of Obamacare and followed up that support with a statement to the effect of, "we're all going to have to experience cuts - hospitals, physicians, everyone". I wonder if there will be commensurate cuts in medical school tuition. That would just make sense. If you're going to cut physician salaries and ask us them to suck it up for the common good, you need to reduce the cost of becoming a doctor. Something makes me doubt that that will happen.

  1. The medical school model as it stand would have to change by shifting a big part of the cost burden away from the student. I am not sure how that will work. I have read about this type of system work well in countries like France, but the way we practice medicine in the US is very different and our expectations from our health care providers are different as well.
